Can anybody suggest a cheap dial-up isp?  I am loosing access to the internet after Tuesday, and while the public library is an option it has some problems.  It's not open on Sunday, and sometimes one has to wait in line for an hour and a half to get a computer.

Assuming I get the job, my wages will be too small for me to afford dsl.

My parents use peoplepc.com  and only have minor complaints.  They, too, are still in Kansas.

I always look at that name (peoplepc, not Kansas) and think it should be pronounced "peh-oh-PLEP-kah."

Don't pay more than $6.  If you cancel, they'll court you and add accelerators at the lowest price.  It's a good back-up for dodgy cable.

Google gives free online accounts. cs.com is cheaper than some ISPs.

Do you have a laptop? All the McDonald's around here have free wifi. Also, they have a few healthy salad options and the coffee does not suck anymore.

For backup/travel I use a thing called budgetdialup.com.  They have local dialup numbers all over the world.  I usually buy their prepaid access (since I only need it while travelling), but they also have a monthly plan. - DvF

vtisp allows 150 hours for $3.95 per month.  It's cheaper if you prepay several months at a time.

Netzero still has a free service, but it's only ten hours a month.
