Childish, too, huh? DNFTT, forumites.
The Frankfurt School writes about mobs as the antithesis to the Enlightenment. Again, who's the troll? The "scholar" in favor of trashing, mobbing, and wilding, or the poster looking for a serious conversation?

From Wikipedia, of course:
Flashmob:
Flash mobs bear certain similarities to political demonstrations, although flash mobs were originally intended to be specifically apolitical. Flash mobs can be seen as a specialized form of smart mob, which is a term and concept forwarded by author Howard Rheingold in his 2002 book Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution.
The term flash mob is claimed to have been inspired by both “smart mob” and “flash crowd.”[3]
[edit]
Hardly the same thing as a riot.

And to think, some of the old-time forumites were accused of forming a clique, but the newer members form mobs.
I stand in awe as part of the clique that's not a clique.
It's totally the clique that's not a clique. Or Alpha Girls and their Venn diagrams. There are also the boys, who seem to have very particular territories marked out. I'm not an anthro person, so I call the them like I see them. If I spoke in the language and naked knowledge of all things Pieces, I'd be an outcaste. You know what I mean. Great idea, zara!
Why thank you London1! And a toast to the Fiona, who may now catch a flashmob in situ, if this thread catches on. You must have broken open the champagne bottles during the Rodney King beating and LA riots. Good times for you, Zara? Wow. That was uncalled for. What then is the difference between sarcasm & just being mean? Hijacking a thread is called for? Mobbing is to be carefully distinguished from rioting, wilding, warring? Your response is uncalled for. Your refusal to condemn mobbing for the random act of violence that it is is uncalled for. Your faux moral righteousness is uncalled for. What a bunch of people in favor of mobbing another poster DO NOT HAVE is the moral high ground.

The Central Park Wilding Political Demonstration? I don't think so.

I wonder if shunning is a form of flashmobbing.
If so, "Do Not Feed the Troll" is a form of flashmobbing.
I support it.

Personally, I think shunning is much worse. By shunning, I mean ignoring or not responding to. Nothing more acute than that. My gesture for shunning is the shrug, and the motto is "Whatever." The Fiona

I'm sorry you feel mobbed, but a flashmob is just a flurry of activity sometimes aimed at something, sometimes not. This thread here isn't about mobbing you or anyone person. It's certainly not about violence or anything related to violence. It's about finding where the flurry of silly or random posts are.

VP was angry in the first post on my thread and he/she wasn't Central Park Wilded as a "political act." I call that angry. I'm saying don't mob whereas Zarathrustra is looking for another poster to wild and calling him/herself a leader. I say people who favor commiting random acts of violence against other posters are a lot more angry than I am.
