Why did this thread die? Maybe folks want to talk about dreams again.

Last night I dreamed that an assistant professor from my graduate program invited me to a party at her apartment, which also happened to be adjacent to some scary woods/cemetery. Prof proceeded to steal all my things, including my shirt and bra, wallet, and camera. But she didn't really steal them--she instead gave them to my friends, some of whom were at the party and some of whom were at home (don't ask me how she got these items to folks who were at home). I then spent the next several hours trying to leave and figure out who had my stuff.

I dreamed that my mother invited herself and several of ther friends over to my house, where they ate all of my bacon.

That's it...no more MIL chronicles for me before bed.

Funny you should ask; this has been on my mind all day.  I dreamt that I had gone for years without ever having a dream.  Really bothers me.

I had to fly from my hometown to Buffalo, NY to go to the hospital there and couldn't get a flight. I ran into a lot of people from my past at the airport of my hometown.

I have never been to Buffalo. My hometown has one of the US's most renowned hospitals. I have no idea why Buffalo.

Huh. This was a lot more interesting from my point of view. I need to work on dreams that make for better stories.

Oh boy . . . I dreamed that I was supposed to take Amtrak cross-country and had a ticket for coach class. At the last minute, I decided to buy an upgrade to a sleeper car from the ticket clerk, who was an ABD from my graduate program. But for some reason I missed the train and I had to zoom ahead in my car to the next station to try to catch up.

My mum, who died 14 years ago, was very involved as  Girl Guide leader.  Last night I dreamed that there was a big full day Guide event, including registration for the coming year, in the village near where we lived when I was a sprout.  In this dream, I put on a Guider uniform, went to the United Church where the event was, and told the chief guider (mother of one of my school friends) that I'm Ursula Incognita, Agnes Incognita's daughter, and since she has died and can't be here I'm here to help out.

So, it seems like my mum has some unfinished business she wants me to deal with, but couldn't she have thought of it sometime in the past 14 years?!?

I dreamed of a hamster dressed to the nines, with a martini in one paw, and a cigarette with the extended filter things in the other. I am not sure what that means, other then I should probably moderate the amount of time I spend chuckling along with some of these posts.

Oh, but the hamster will be so touched that you dreamed of him.  In fact, since he is probably drunk by now at the sadgoat welcome party, he might become embarrassingly maudlin, weep down his little whiskers all over you, and make a slurred proposal of marriage.

Should you decide to accept his proposal, you will, of course, need to start a thread on how to bring up the question of spousal benefits for your rodent partner during job negotiations.  I'm not sure Getting to Yes has gotten to that one.

At the risk of making you all think I'm crazy, I dreamed last night that Richard Nixon and my fourth-grade teacher were running a Lutheran respite center in the Castro district of San Francisco. It made absolutely perfect sense at the time.

I was sitting in a reclining chair (like a dentist's chair) in a store of some sort, but I don't know why.  There was a glass-topped counter near me and several guys speaking ForeignLanguage.  I wasn't paying attention to what they were talking about, but I said something in that language and then they thought I had been listening.  All of a sudden they were all around me with big guns and they tied my ankles together, but only loosely.  I got up to go to the bathroom and passed the door to the sidewalk on the way. A woman and her child came to the door and I showed them my ankles.  They left and in a few minutes lots of people came into the store.  I knew they were the police.  As I woke up, I couldn't figure out why I hadn't just walked out.

Whatever you had to eat or drink last night...I don't want any.
