aaaah! The power of the internet.

Those two posts are clear indication of what's wrong with our institutions (by our I mean Gulf). They are incompetent and non-professional and when ALOT of people site their BAD experiences and complain what do they do? Question themselves? Try to fix their problems? Get feedback to improve? NO!!!

Instead they chose to find ways to attack those who are criticizing them, deny the allegations and hide their problems/issues under the "carpet".

But I'm afraid it's 2009, you can't hide things. It's not the 80s anymore!

These situations truly remind me of Fawlty Towers!

You should see this place to believe it.... It is total chaos. Everything is upside down. There is nothing going right anywhere. Everything seems like a joke; you read about "department of this" and "center for that", it's all fake and propaganda. Ironically, these administrators are graduates from US universities but apparently they learned nothing about management, academic honesty, and service. If you decide to try it, don't plan to stay. As a matter of fact, be prepared to leave anytime, which is not unusual in this place. Just few months ago, the VC Assistant of Academic Affairs left after three months.

Yikes, it sounds pretty bad. And with Oman buddying up more and more with Iran, I'm afraid it will distance itself further from the rest of the Gulf countries.

I recently visited Oman to consider my options to work there. I saw Dhofar uni and it seems to be under construction.
