We still use pencil and a paper grid to plan each term's teaching schedule.  This seems like a perfect job for a good piece of software.  Any recommendations?  We aren't a huge department---10 full-timers and some part-timers---so we don't want anything overly complex.

Thanks, although you were looking for something a lot more powerful than what I need.   I was basically looking for a way to represent the schedule that was neater than a handwritten grid.  It turned out that a using borders in Excel to create a grid I could edit on the computer worked well enough.
