You are the janitor.  What should you do when the alarm goes off on my research equipment?  NOT A GODDAMN THING.  No, I am absolutely NOT training you on how to maintain my research equipment!  NO.  NO.  NO.  Do I have to say it louder?  NO I WILL NOT SHOW YOU WHERE THE MUTE BUTTON IS EITHER!  LEAVE IT ALONE!

KEEP YOUR MITTS OFF MY RESEARCH EQUIPMENT!!!!  AND NO I WILL NOT SHOW YOU WHERE THE MUTE BUTTON IS ON RESEARCH EQUIPMENT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU ASK AND HOW LOUD YOU YELL TRUST ME I CAN YELL MUCH LOUDER THAN YOU CAN.

Machine make noise.  I stop noise.  :::BASH:::  There, noise stopped.

Wow, it's like Igor is your janitor. ;)

VP

Not Igor.  More of a busybody.  He's a good guy, and an excellent janitor.  He meddles too much, though.  He just wants to help, but he needs to keep his hands off of my $60,000 research equipment.  There are so many things wrong with training the janitor to mute the alarm on research equipment.

I stay out of his closet.

Plumbing issues.  And the fact that neither I nor Namazu-san knows enough about plumbing (and the fixing thereof) to know what's reasonable.  And the old, poorly-maintained pipes.

Now we have 0 working showers, whereas before the plumber arrived, we had 2 (albeit leaky ones; hence the visit).  The shower faucets are back-to-back on one wall, and it's not clear whether they can be fixed without cutting tile and going into the wall.  We were planning to re-do one of these bathrooms at some indeterminate point in the future, but we are not ready to do it yet, and don't want to spend a ton of money on a temporary fix.

Grr.  Stupid corrosion and silicone caulk where it shouldn't have been!  Grr.

It never is. The thing is, the absence of accreditation is so painful that we are all motivated by avoidance.

Lawn guy, get over here and mow already! Or I'll find a new lawn guy.

*gennimom appears back on the fora in mid-scream*

...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Oh. Wait. What? I'm back on? Really? Phew! That was bad! Internet withdrawal is horrible!

Would you people STOP CUTTING THE STUPID AT&T OPTIC FIBER CABLE! I really don't like losing the internet for HOURS like that! Sheesh!

In other news: Gennimom's fever decided to appear at lunchtime today, so GD said call the doctor. Went to see him at 4 pm and was given a mask. Uh oh. Doctor decided that although Gennimom doesn't feel like she has the flu, she has enough symptoms to treat as if she does.

So Gennimom was told to go home and hibernate.

Gennimom is sitting on her couch in her jammies, ready for her 3 DAY VACATION! Woo hoo!

Oh, wait, this is the venting thread.

Durn it, can't go to work tomorrow.

*snicker*

I'm venting because I can't inhale. Southern California is on fire and we've been asked not to breathe.

That's why I dressed to match.

And, please, I'm a big-vocabulary academic: it's azure. Or cerulean, perhaps. Never just pedestrian blue. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must pass out.

We need oxygen over here! We don't want to lose Madhatter to the SC wildfires!
