Junebugs (and other wise posters),

Depending on the situation, I'd give them their ten minutes and be prepared to explain why you gave the grades that you did. I was once in a similar situation and felt I had no choice, as the school where I was adjuncting was far and away the only one in our area that paid enough for me to get by. (The others had insulting per-course rates and wouldn't offer enough classes to buy lunch.) The situation was quickly resolved (and my grades stood).

There is also the matter of references, as a couple of posters indicated--you don't want this to haunt you if your chair bears a grudge. The goal of adjuncting, for most, is to no longer be an adjunct, and you don't want to sabotage your chances of escape. The simple fact is this: those who adjunct have no protection and no freedom, and until they/we (I was an adunct for a brief time) escape to a full-time position, we have to suck it up a little.

But in the event that you don't care, are not seeking t-t employment elsewhere, and have multiple options, I wholeheartedly agree with LarryC: pass the buck and tell them to go to hell (nicely or in so many words).
