The old exercise thread must be several pages back...so I thought I'd start a new one.

So, how is everyone's exercising going at this point in the semester?  I'm almost at the point where I'm ready to sign up with a personal trainer (who just about killed me in the "introductory" session).  I could barely walk the next day!  Need I say we did leg work?

Though the last couple of weeks have been spotty due to various professional and personal issues, I've been to the gym Sunday through yesterday.  I took today off because I was a bit sore and, quite frankly, I needed major groceries!  I'll go tomorrow, take Saturday off (have to be on campus for student presentations), and pick it up again Sunday perhaps through the week.  Still doing the weight machines (though I've been advised to do those every 72 hours, not 48 as I had been trying to do) and elliptical on the non-weight days.  If I have time, I do the weight machines and then 30 minutes of elliptical afterwards.  Why not be completely and totally exhausted instead of just spent?

How about the rest of you?  Swimming?  Biking?  Hiking?  Softball/baseball?  Golf?  The recent nationwide cold snap definitely put the kibosh on some of my outdoors activities!

I was just thinking how motivating this thread was...I don't think I've done a 3-mile session on the treadmill since the old thread got buried. I'm doing cardio most days--sometimes jogging on the treadmill, sometimes walking uphill on the treadmill, often walking hills outside with the dog (2-mile very hilly loop), and I recently tried the elliptical machine. Jeez, that is a workout.

Weights--eh, sometimes. I used to do about 4-5 times a week, not very heavy weights, just to maintain muscle tone, but lately it's been more like 2 times a week. Junk food is killing me though. I've put on about 5 pounds since last summer.

Thanks for reviving the thread--can we make it health & fitness, not just exercise?

NO!  It's MY thread, and I get to say what we talk about!!!!

:~)

Sure.  I actually printed out what sounds like a not-terrible recipe from Food Network--chicken with wild mushrooms (from 30 minute meals--it's the "Commuter" show shown tonight).  It looks great and relatively healthful.  Except for the cream....
