Hey, everyone. Just to let you know, I have decided to take a post that's not in Lebanon. I'm kind of sad about it, but at the same time, it seems like the only sensible thing to do, given all that's been going on. I still hope that we can talk about working in Lebanon, because I still want to work in Lebanon! This board has given me a much better idea of how to deal with things the NEXT time I apply to a school there.

I worked at Balamand for 3 years. In short I would avoid them. Things used to be good but now it is a pritty grim place for both faculty and students. In the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences you are clocked in and out of class by the new Dean! Pay is much less than AUB and Balamand presently has a very anti forign faculty ethos. Contact some of the international staff and get their views before you even think of accepting any offers.
