hi all, this may be arcane, but you may be able to help.

I am in an academic post where I get 6 months full pay and 6 months half if I am sick.

Am discussing a move to a new Uni (not a New Uni). Yay. Gord Bless the RAE.

But it will take me a number of years to get back to my current position on sickpay, although the actual salary is a good hike.

I asked to negotiate  - as I did succesfully in my last move - but they say no way.

What would you do in the circs? Private insurance? Anyone had any experience on this?

Have you ever been sick for more than a day or two?

BTW, was the "Gord bless" intentional. 'Cause I don't think he does - hence the move to metrics.

It's not procrastination. It's "just in time" delivery.

Nutso is the new normal.

no, I haven't been sick, but am at an age where I know peers who have....

The RAE comment was, umm. Pretending to be ironic while recognizing a reality that it got me the offer, if I am honest.
