Reward should be based on achievement and talent alone. I completely agree here. And from this perspective, this is exactly why its better to be a white male on the market today than ever before. The less overrepresented we are in the best jobs, the more we can be assured that it is our talent and our achievement and not our race and sex that are responsible for where we are. I welcome this new era where I know that my race and sex are less determinant of my success. Because race and sex are less determinant, my achievement and my talent become more important.

Reward should be based on achievement and talent alone. Have you thought through the implications, were this standard to be adopted? I'm not going to spoon-feed you the implications; people on these threads should think at least a little bit. But I will say that the guy who mugs you in an alley thinks the same.

Man this was a good thread! Too bad folks don't really understand the implications and meltdown of our society that is being achieved through the cause of diversity. Pres. Carter says disagreement with Pres Obama amounts to racism.... Yes, I agree…. Some of the folks in the crowds are clearly racist… but that doesn’t make everyone that disagrees racist no more than the communist in the Obama crowds make him a communist. Soon, disagreement will not be permitted. The stifling of speech is one of the first priorities of tolitarian control. You diversity nuts have been co-opted into a socialist takeover of our Greatest Nation under God.

The enlightened one, also known as Larry C, has decided that my opinions and comments are not as valid as his. I am beneath him. I am a troll - An animal that dwells in darkness surrounded by rot and decay... That is always the tactic of you diversity kooks... dropping bombs from your ivory tower.... just call someone a bad name and that wins the argument.

Hello everyone. I'd like to invite readers of this and similarly productive threads, online newspaper comment sections, and sites across the political spectrum to attend my paper presentation at the MLA. My essay is titled: "Connecting the dot-dot-dots: ellipses in the e-rhetoric of conspiracy."
It explores how authors attempt to reframe the normative political debates of our era, opening up space for the extra-rational between the spaces of the standard three-period ellipsis. By signaling each statement as endlessly open to different forms of connection or completion, the users of ellipses invite their readers to participate with them in a re-articulation of universal narratives. In essence, the ellipsis explodes the hierarchies of so-called rationality, particularly as expressed in the corporate media, where the restrictive punctuation systems of late capitalism dominate.
Anyhow, I hope to see you all there. As always, wear your black turtlenecks and tiny glasses and you'll get a free glass of chardonnay after the panel!

To golden apple... Your claim to fame is that you apparently are a master of English writing (Nevermind the fact that you have nothing to say).
Blogs are different than your ivory tower writing exercises. We can use ellipses, miss use the language if we like, and even abbreviations.

1. Ceci n'est pas une blog. 2. I use ellipses all the time.... 3. I knew Miss Use once. She was quite a girl. 4. Abbreviations truly dislike being misused.

You undermine your own credibility here by not knowing the difference between a blog and a discussion forum. You undermine it even further by refusing to use proper punctuation and spelling, which is a requirement of the terms of use for this academic forum. I certainly have difficulty discerning between an unwillingness and an inability to follow these writing conventions. Diversity nuts to you, Pocky
