So they changed it to make live easier for stupid folk...  ;-)

life... that ol' octoprof can't spell.

While on the geologically named colleges, did anyone mention Stonehill College?

Indiana University of Pennsylvania. (I think I got that right)

That one and
California University of Pennsylvania
are favorites on this thread, I think.

Wouldn't it be just peachy if we also had a
Pennsylvania University of Indiana and California?

There's Miami University of Ohio ... which is fractionally higher profile than IUP and CUP.  I've actually been to both IUP and CUP, but it was a long time ago.

I'd like to see Kansas State University at Pittsburg[h] and University of Maryland - Pasadena.

a lot of people seem confused by the fact that there is a Cambridge in England.

person1:so where did you do your PhD?
person2:Cambridge
person1:oh, you mean Harvard?
person2:no, CAMBRIDGE

those Harvard types don't make it easier by pulling this kind of coy stuff when talking about where they went to school!

There is a New York, Texas. Wouldn't that make for a fun university name?

The possibilities are, well, entertaining.  University of Texas at New York would bewilder people, or (if we wanted a school independent of the UT system) New York University in Texas.  Perhaps Texas A&M New York or TAMNY?

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.

Its signature building could then be TAMNY Hall!  I like it!  ;)

These are funny. I went to Penn State and IUP and CUP are very well known colleges --- in Pennsylvania. IUP has about 14,000 students and a beautiful campus. CUP, not so nice as far as campuses are concerned, but still a well known college in PA.

There is also a Penn State Delaware. I have never seen the campus.
