Don't ask about salary during the interview, unless the hiring committee asks you about it first or you already have a competing offer. Otherwise it's best to wait until the hiring committee makes you an offer before raising the issue. You should, however, familiarize yourself with the salary range of the position before the interview (consult the AAUP Faculty Salary Survey on The Chronicle's site and check with your professional society for discipline-specific information) to be sure it falls within your target salary range, and in case you're asked about your salary expectations.
