I posted the below erroneously in another forum: 

I am going to be teaching an online first-year seminar for selected students in science majors.  We've not done this before and are looking to see if others have done first-year seminars for science majors online.  There will be an orientation meeting and a closing group session, but all other interactions are to be held online.

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the intellectual culture of college and our institution specifically, as well as increase student engagement (with an idea to increase retention).

Thoughts?
