UNF is in Jax, which is a large city (largest area wise in US). I really don't have any connection wth UNF, ut I do know that the University is in a nice area of town. There are several major roads in the area, but the main one leads to the beaches and the shopping malls, so it is perpetually backed-up. UNF is in one of the nicer areas of Jax, though.
Hope this helps.

JAX is a huge sprawling city- but it does have a decent semi-contained downtown business district. I personally love the beaches area, although if I lived over there I'd probably never go to work.
JAX also has several cute intown neighborhoods with older homes, which is rare in Florida. There's a lot to do, but JAX does trend a little on the republican side politically. I don't know all that much about UNF except that the buildings are newer and very nice.
As someone else here alluded, Florida is HOT. Do not move here if you do not tolerate heat well. By HOT I do mean that from April-Sept. you will break a sweat walking from your door to your car. It always amazes me when recent arrivals act surprised that it's hot here (DUH). It's also extremely humid, which is great for your skin, but rough on the hair.
Oh, and we don't have state income tax here.

Sorry, the yikes blank hi is a reference to a previous posting in which I said "hi" and nothing else (posted accidentally). Guess I made matters worse by obliquely apologizing in the next posting.

A friend of mine knows several people who have taught at UNF and he categorized them into two divergent groups; those who love UNF and those who couldn't get away fast enough.

I just noticed UNF is at, or near, the absolute bottom of the RPI index for rating college basketball teams. So don't go there for a great basketball team. They are #335 of 336 with an 0-23 record! Wow. Pretty Bad!

Is a bad basketball team a bad sign of other bad things? If not, I don't care. If so, please elaborate.

No, I was just posting tongue in cheek as I have read many posts about how important basketball teams are for a place's reputation. This is especially in the South, though I don't know why that is.

I thought it was football that matter there?
