I began this thread with the hope that other young women may learn from it. What steps were involved, how things felt and so on.

I have to tell you all that I am amazed and touched at how much support I have been given here. I did not get to post yesterday but it helped me so much to read all the positive stories and hear words of caring from you all.

My experiences with breast cancer have not been good at all. My aunt (not by blood but marriage) was diagnosed at 32 and died at 40 leaving a 10 year old son and he has not done so well without his mother.
My husband's advisor was diagnosed and passed away two weeks later after complications during an operation. Those are the only two people I have known who have had breast cancer.

Thank you so much for giving me strength.

I called the clinic today and found out that the results of my mammogram are negative. I am planning on having the best weekend of my life, with my family and husband. I feel like every day is a blessing.

For those who are interested, there is a breast cancer 3 day, 60 mile walk being planned. I know I will be there.

Sincere thanks again. We can snark all we want but when the going gets tough, it is nice to see that everyone is there for one another.

Limeorchid, I had the mammogram, scan and biopsies (not fun, but worth the peace of mind) and in the end of it all, am fine - no cancer.

I hope that everything goes well for you, you have lots of support here!

I'm so pleased for you.  Most of the (many) women I know who've had breast cancer are doing just fine, but it's good to know that you don't have that diagnosis.

That's marvelous, limeorchid.  I am simply delighted for you.  Relax now! You've earned it, as has your family.

Deep breath.  Yea!

So glad your mammogram turned out negative. For those who don't already know, a "bad" mammogram does NOT necessarily mean trouble. I've had them more than once, and a follow-up ultrasound came up clean. So fibrous breasts run in my family and even what feels like a lump is often just fiber... not that I'd disregard them, but I try not to panic in between tests.

I cut out caffeine (except for the smaller amounts in chocolate) about 3 years ago and have had "clean" mammograms since. Something to do with collecting in fibrous breasts.

Limeorchid, I just now read this thread and am so happy for you! Like many others, I have had several suspicious mammos and with one went to biopsy stage--with no cancer. On the other hand, I did have another kind of cancer, again diagnosed early.  I'm now a few years past surgery and chemo and well, so far so good.  So even if the news wasn't good, it could still be good later--I'm passing that on to tuck in your pocket for the future. For now, just have a FANTASTIC CELEBRATION.
