From a purely selfish standpoint, it can be more beneficial to the candidate not to post.  About half the schools I spoke to at MLA were unsure how many candidates they would be flying out; many said that they might only bring one person but that they'd prefer to bring two or three if the higher-ups would approve it.  If I get a call from one of those schools, I probably will not post it to the wiki because 1) I might be the only person with an invite which would immediately out me, and 2) More important, if someone else updates the wiki, then I have a better sense of whether I have competition or if it's my job to lose.

All of this makes me wonder whether the wiki is a good thing, after all.  I mean, it's not dependable, there is nothing official about it, and creeps could invent or erase information to rattle the nerves of other wiki-watchers.  For that reason, you really can't be sure if the job is yours to lose, trabb.  Maybe everyone else is just being as prudent as you are.

Of course, this realization doesn't prevent my checking the wiki umpteen times a day.
