When someone comments in a way that suggests they are illiterate, goes onto slander a professor out of spite those for example by using terms such as "raitings", they are easy to spot and no one, students or peers pay attention to them.

RPM's integrity has been compromised by professors that can't or won't do their job correctly. It is a valuable tool for students who want to ensure they get the most for their educational dollar. When someone goes onto slander a professor out of spite those raitings are easy to spot and no one, students or peers pay attention to them.
What's the claim here? Are you saying RMP is a useful tool or could be a useful tool? Your main thesis is unclear. You provide no argument for any interpretation of your main thesis. Your writing is also very bad. Go to the Writing Center. I do want to give you lots of fuzzy warm feelings for trying to express yourself. Well done for making the effort. D.

Chill out. RMP has no integrity, so add as many ratings as you want. Indeed, I think academics should do what they can to undermine RMP in subversive actions.
I have taken to adding famous figures to different departments. I'm considering adding Leonardo Fibonacci to our Math Dept, Immanuel Kant to the Philosophy Dept, Emile Durkheim to Sociology, and of course Gustave Flaubert to French. Don't worry, they'll get glowing ratings.
Maybe I'll do the same for other schools too.
RPM's integrity has been compromised by professors that can't or won't do their job correctly. It is a valuable tool for students who want to ensure they get the most for their educational dollar. When someone goes onto slander a professor out of spite those raitings are easy to spot and no one, students or peers pay attention to them. Aside from the fact the that anyone can post about anyone, that nearly all of the posts for my college are from those who rave about the professor or those who trash them (never anything in between), and aside from the fact that there are only five ratings categories which are so vague as to be entirely unhelpful (what does "this is my world" mean, anyway? You love the subject, so your comments shouldn't be trusted? Or you love the subject so you know what a good professor in it should be like?), aside from all of that...there is no "integrity" in a site which weights one fifth of a professor's overall score on how easy the professor is--and the more easy you rate, the higher the score. You don't get "the most" for your dollar because the professor gives easy As. Unless, of course, you have no idea what it is you're supposed to be paying for.

This bit has been HOF'd.

Shouldn't you studying for your finals now? Or do you think that "getting the most for your educational dollars" means getting an automatic "A". PS. getting a lamp would help you study - it can get pretty dark under that bridge.

If I were a student and read some of the posts on these fora, I wouldn't take classes from a lot of us. LOL
I'm a student that (just finished undergrad), started reading some of chronicle and fell on these forums. I was quite surprised by a lot of what is said on this forum. It's like a crazy inside scoop on what a lot of professors think and say, some of it scary to be honest and degrading towards students, specially those "favorite emails" or "favorite conversations." It makes me wonder if I was ever the subject of a favorite email or conversation. I'm glad not many undergrads know about this.

Most of us are far nicer in person than on the fora, and just hate to admit how soft-hearted we are to our students. I suspect there are more good games talked than played, but you never know.

Don't listen to Conjugate - we're A LOT scarier in person. So next time any of your friends wants to cheat, plagiarize, or lie to their professors, tell them about what you read here. And remember, for legal reasons we don't even mention the really horrific things that we do.

Think of the fora as the equivalent of Rate My Students, without the chili peppers.

The stunningly eloquent descriptions on Thong Watch are like verbal chili peppers, come to think of it. Maybe we can get the mods to add a chili pepper icon to the Message Icon list?

If you found your way here on your own, out of a genuine interest in higher education, then you are NOT one of the snowflakes we discuss elsewhere on the fora. Trust me on this. Though you don't necessarily have to feel better on this account.

I confess I'm a bigger push over nicer in real person. We only give chili peppers to other professors, lawyers, and stock brokers.
