If I wanted to wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning, maybe. I think I can stay up for another hour, and then get into bed. I might be able to get up at the regular time, then, or maybe a bit earlier.

But you're probably waking up at some crazy hour to scale a mountain or run to Alaska or something. ;) I just want to stay asleep until around 6:30. Even 6, and I'd be happy.

Pfft. Such a smartypants. I am not currently allowed to run (and it's too cold, anyhow). I do not climb mountains. That's for scary people.

I do hope to swim in the morning, but that's pretty easy to do with this percentage of body fat, you know. I float really well!

Good evening, everyone, and good night to those headed for well-deserved rest.

I didn't get nearly as much done on my article today as I hoped.  I feel angry with myself for accomplishing so little when I have so much time.  However, beating myself up is not productive.  The solution is to work more and work harder.  Onward.

Morning:
- Coffee
- E-mail fellowship people and ask if they're sending me tax info
- Finish revising introduction of my article still in progress, but I did work on it all morning
- Lunch

Afternoon:
- Back-up household laptops (FOR REAL! MUST REALLY DO IT TODAY!)
- Tidy kitchen
- Call energy company for third time to straighten up their inability to bill me automatically.  "Please.  I WANT to give you money."
- Go to mechanic
- Work on revising the subsections of the body of my article in progress

Evening:
- Read articles for workshop
- Spend 30 minutes entering bibliographic info into Zotero
- Spend 30 minutes making sure article footnotes conform to journal house style
- 1 hour of reading / notes on certain background issue for article
- Tinker with article in light of previous reading

Longer term:
- Taxes
- Health reimbursement thingy
- Work on job application for new job posting that I will not get
- Work on paper for March conference
- Work on paper for April conference
- Register for the March and April conferences ...

Good evening, friends! Lots of snow coming down here, though I doubt we'll end up with more than a few inches total accumulation.

For Monday/Tuesday:
Deal with credit card stuff
Drive to big town
See counselor
Attend seminar
Drive back to TTville
Chat with long-distance friend
Discuss possible conference panel with colleague
Go grocery shopping
Wash car
Wrap up introduction
Look at more microfilm
Review index of microfilm
Continue correspondence re: conference possibilities
Wash dishes
Do laundry - in progress
Go to gym x2
Compile Wednesday list

Eh. Not the greatest of days. After class tomorrow (the totally awesome one, natch), I need to rethink how I'm setting daily goals.

Leftovers from Sunday, do Mon or Tues as appropriate
put away laundry (all of it!) - half done
write up details for first part
prep HW#1
prep quiz#1
blog post

Today
get to gym early - OK, I didn't make it to the gym, but see above RE: car
read article for class, consider assigning
prep for totally awesome Wednesday class - well, mostly
write description for program X
set meeting time to work on program Z
invite faculty to participate in program Z
Call L about RCR
call K about symposia

Things I did today that I didn't plan
pick up new advisee, discuss complicated set of course plan options
figure out how to do that file sharing thingy I wanted to do
meet with research student to set goals for week, semester
relaunch fun academic activity thingy that will help me get my stuff done

Wednesday
prep for totally awesome Thursday class

I had a sluggish night. I blame the cold. Up and at 'em tomorrow.

Surely the early-to-bedders will arise in the AM with magnificent complexions.

to-do to-day
wakey wakey
shower
coffee: in progress
to the office
shake fist at library
reevaluate emergency rec
perhaps send emergency rec
request weird stuff via ILL: in progress, as there's plenty of weird stuff to be had
lunch: darn! I keep forgetting. Ate a quarter of it! Plus a breath mint.
office hours
grade electronically submitted grad assignments
teach undergrad class
home
dinner: in progress
MS
watch Frontline and The Good Wife
wash face, brush and floss
sleep

to-do to-morrow
wake
shower
coffee
email
reminder to undergrads
MS
finish ILL spree
office hours
finally send albatrossic emergency rec
forget to eat lunch
meeting
dinner out
replenish soy sauce
review primary text for grad class
MS
wash/brush/floss
zzzzzzz

Good night, paddington, t_r_b, octoprof, shrubbery, normative_, erictho, wegie, testingthewaters, ironproffen, and scotia!

<slurp>

Thanks, norm.

Late day into the office; the past 2 or 3 weeks of nuttiness have taken their toll, so I'm trying to rest my body and use my brain for the rest of the week.

today's plan
  • get up a little later than usual, read newspaper, drink coffee
  • to office
  • see if I can get sad neglected manuscript good enough to go to coauthors (who've probably forgotton it exists by now)
  • e-mail students 2 & 3
  • read stuff for intern
  • think about book chapter that should have already been long written
  • meeting
  • home, eat, sleep, etc

For the love of all that's holy, it's snowing again. Stop the madness!
