I just got a phone call from a colleague in another building, asking me if I knew the location of a printer number hu accidentally sent questions for a mid-term in a 300 person class to. Ummmm.... yeah. Sorry. That printer is right next to the student computer lab. I fear a new mid-term is in the making. Gotta love network printing.

Ouch.

To Dos: Tuesday
  • vitamins and exercise
  • teach class 1 and class 2
  • grade all exams for class 2; record grades; print out grade slips 'n staple
  • finish clipping and post clippings
  • prep class 1 and class 2 and class 3; post class 3
  • find That Thing
  • finish reading chapter 2 and 3 of That Book to review

Hi Everyone,

Ironproffen, I trust you're feeling pumped from the car extraction this morning.

The day has gone up in a puff of smoke. I have graded, supervised several students, put together grade lists and unfortunately, drawn up a couple of plagiarism reports. I don't really get mad about anything other than how much work it is to follow through on these things.

So I've done no writing at all. And yes, the haircut's quite good.

I also officially envy Wegie right now. Except I'd be spending a lot of time in the Carnegie Deli eating pastrami sandwiches.

I will leave work today by 3:30 in order to exercise.

Sometimes the choice is between being lazy and exercising. Other times, it's a choice between getting more work done, and exercising. I think that I'm going to stay until 4:30 to plow through more letters, and then go home. I then may or may not exercise.

It's snowing. Really lightly, so it's not sticking, but I think that's coming.

   *read a paper for student
   *gave out final presentation dates
   *put together assignment for class2
   *wrote notes for class2
*put the finishing touches on two of the letters

Good afternoon, everyone!  Unexpected trip to the mechanic, but nothing serious or expensive.  Phew!

Work is going OK, but I need to get more done on this article.

Morning:
- Coffee
- E-mail fellowship people and ask if they're sending me tax info
- Finish revising introduction of my article still in progress, but I did work on it all morning
- Lunch

Afternoon:
- Back-up household laptops (FOR REAL! MUST REALLY DO IT TODAY!)
- Tidy kitchen
- Call energy company for third time to straighten up their inability to bill me automatically.  "Please.  I WANT to give you money."
- Go to mechanic
- Work on revising the subsections of the body of my article in progress

Evening:
- Read articles for workshop
- Spend 30 minutes entering bibliographic info into Zotero
- Spend 30 minutes making sure article footnotes conform to journal house style
- 1 hour of reading / notes on certain background issue for article
- Tinker with article in light of previous reading

Longer term:
- Taxes
- Health reimbursement thingy
- Work on job application for new job posting that I will not get
- Work on paper for March conference
- Work on paper for April conference
- Register for the March and April conferences ...

I have one more letter that's almost done, and one - a longer one - that I haven't started. I don't have the energy to tackle either of them anymore today, though. They're not needed until Friday, but I might be able to finish at least one more tomorrow. (I hate when one or two tasks take up the better part of a day.) Now, to go home and do what?

Done:

~morning domestic routine
~paid bills
~put trash/recycling on curb - including broken lamp

   *gave out final presentation dates

*put the finishing touches on two of the letters
   *finished two more letters

Good afternoon, friends! Lots of snow coming down here, though I doubt we'll end up with more than a few inches total accumulation.

For Monday/Tuesday:
Deal with credit card stuff
Drive to big town
See counselor
Attend seminar
Drive back to TTville
Chat with long-distance friend
Discuss possible conference panel with colleague
Go grocery shopping
Wash car
Wrap up introduction
Look at more microfilm
Pick up still more microfilm - tried, but someone in ILL land screwed up and sent a book instead of film. If only it were a duplicate of the film - but no luck there.
Review index of microfilm
Continue correspondence re: conference possibilities
Wash dishes
Do laundry
Go to gym
Compile Wednesday list

Miraculously, when I got home I exercised. Even more miraculously, I didn't quit halfway through, like I wanted to. And I've showered and eaten dinner. If it were a bit later, I could go to bed.

Done:

~morning domestic routine
~paid bills
~put trash/recycling on curb - including broken lamp
~walked to work
~work
   *email
   *read a paper for student
   *gave out final presentation dates
   *put together assignment for class2
   *ate lunch
   *wrote notes for class2
*put the finishing touches on two of the letters
   *finished two more letters
~walked home
~brought in trash and recycling bins
~exercised!
~showered
~ate dinner

Good evening, paddington, t_r_b, octoprof, shrubbery, normative_, erictho, wegie, testingthewaters, ironproffen, and scotia!

Wow, paddington, that's quite a "have-done" list. Octo, I'm one of those crazy people chronicled in the NYTimes last week who never turn on the heat, but you shouldn't have to pile on the sweaters at the office. Eeek to testing's colleague.

Un/like t_r_b and wegie, we've got some cold solid falling from the sky. Here they call it "wintry mix," which sounds like it might contain peppermint and chocolate, but most definitely doesn't.

to-do to-day
wakey wakey
shower
coffee: in progress
to the office
shake fist at library
reevaluate emergency rec
perhaps send emergency rec
request weird stuff via ILL: in progress, as there's plenty of weird stuff to be had
lunch: darn! I keep forgetting. Ate a quarter of it! Plus a breath mint.
office hours
grade electronically submitted grad assignments
teach undergrad class
home
dinner: in progress
MS
watch Frontline and The Good Wife
wash face, brush and floss
sleep
