Many of us grow up learning the story of the Good Samaritan...a Levite passes by but a Samaritan helps a person injured on a road.

Schools get people deeply in debt in some cases. They cause physical exhaustion in some cases. They certainly in some cases help their employees as they helped me for about 13 years working for various schools.

The point is I was influenced by the Good Samaritan concept and the table fellowship concept from my study with Jonathan Z. Smith of the University of Chicago to try to be helpful with comments like "I know someone who works in the mediation field or one of my friends works in law or I have an opening in archives or there is an opening in the biology labs or computer labs etc...."

Such behavior gets interpreted by employers as sexual behavior..coming on to a student. Someone tries to live out the Good Samaritan story and it gets seen as sexual behavior, when it is not.

I do not know how the community feels about it, but this influential story is problematic. An attempt to help, "Some of my friends work in law, there was an opening over here, would you like to have lunch some day or go to the zoo" while a university is giving away alcohol, caffeinated cola regularly gets interpreted as sexual inappropriate behavior.

We all know that following religious stories can be disastrous. Throughout history, religious stories like the idea of Christ as victim of a certain group, have resulted in disaster. I do not know how much discussion there has been of the Good Samaritan concept as disastrous. The concept leads to a sense of someone helping someone else. In many cases, the person does not want the person's help, prohibits speech when someone tries to help, and terminates an employee when the person asks why the person said false things about the employee.

Like every parable or allegory from religion, history, astronomy, biology, science, fable, myth, parables can be disastrous when applied.

Apparently, so can logic.

Guys, I will point this out on all this OP's threads (cause that's the way I am).  The OP's posts are indicative of classic schizophrenia.  I feel very sorry for him/her - it has to be very difficult - and I think it's sad that the OP has obviously not received much-needed help.

To the OP - I realize you don't know that you need help, but I hope for your sake you get some soon.  If you have family that has been trying to assist you, please let them.

Not taking your medication can also be disastrous.
