Hi

I posted a question about presenting a 10 minute talk during a UK interview in the Interview forum and got some helpful responses.  I have another specific question.

I'm planning on presenting a very brief amount of theory, two bits of results that support my hypotheses, then discuss future directions for my dissertation as well as two other research projects I'm working on.

Given the RAE pressure, should I mention when I'm planning to submit work for publication during my presentation? it seems tacky but the ability to publish and the RAE seem to be such a huge factor in the UK.

thanks!

Seems like a good idea to mention it. I don't see how it could do any harm. You don't say if you have already published anything already, but be careful about saying "I plan to write an article on this for XYZ journal" when you haven't even started writing.

I wouldn't bother in the 10 minute talk as your research in relation to the RAE will be an interview question and you can address this then.

It's not procrastination. It's "just in time" delivery.
