I have a campus visit scheduled next month. I am pregnant, but it won't be very visible. Should I tell? If not, how to handle drinks at dinner? How much is too much information and how badly is this likely to be received? (it would not affect my ability to start teaching on time next Sept.)

If you're not showing, and the baby is due before the job starts, you probably shouldn't say anything.

As for drinks with dinner, lots of peole don't drink, so have some Perrier with lime and don't sweat it. (Although I had one or two glasses of wine a week with both my pregnancies and I heartily recommend it. So did my OB.)

We would not discriminate against you at my institution if we knew you were pregnant, but I have heard several stories about institutions that did exactly that.  I would not mention it until after I had a signed contract.  Not drinking at dinner will not raise any red flags.

From my experience, you should reveal as little personal information as possible. It cannot possibly make them more likely to hire you, and could prejudice someone against you.

On an aside, I knew a colleague who upon being hired, immediately told the dean he was a recovering alcoholic and asked if he knew of "any good AA meetings" around. Yikes! I, too, have a personal life. Hope I never turn into a "blurter" like this. Strangely, he was not renewed after his first year... though I think his teaching skills weren't up to par.
