So I was in my "smart" classroom recently, and I decided to write a bunch of hard-to-spell terms on the whiteboards below the screen where my PowerPoint was projected. I heard giggling, turned around, looked up, and saw that my PowerPoint slide had disappeared to almost nothing! The students explained that one of the whiteboards is somehow connected to the computer console. So I had to erase everything on that board, and as I did, my PowerPoint slowly reappeared. Huh? Then it happened again in my other class, but that's a smaller room with only one whiteboard, so I had nowhere to write! What the hell?  Why on earth? Does anyone else have this?

Okay, that IS weird. Around here, the whiteboards are separate from the smartboards. Who thought this one up?

In some of our rooms, the middle section of a wide group of multiple wipe boards is a smart board / wipe board combo. If you're not using powerpoint, it's best to just shut down the PC and then it's a regular wipe board. If you are using Powerpoint, you need to learn to not touch the smart board while you're using it (if you were in our room, you'd just have to write your terms on the regular wipe boards next to it). I've actually tried shutting down the smart board application on the PC, but touching the board seemed to re-start the application automatically. I'm sure there must be a way to keep it from turning itself back on, but I haven't cared enough to dig any deeper to find it.

I wish I did have this.  I use both PP and whiteboard and in some of our oddly arranged rooms I spend a lot of time messing with the projector and screen.
