Why do I have to register?

Most discussion forums on the Internet require some sort of registration in order to post comments.
We decided to add the registration requirement to prevent some users from "hijacking" other people's user names and to control the ever-expanding avalanche of spam. Requiring users to register with an e-mail address is the only effective means of fighting those problems.
Please keep in mind that while you must register to post, your online persona (or personas) in the forums is your own invention. Nobody knows who you are unless you reveal your true identity in your profile (which is optional).
Please also note that while we require users to register if they want to post, anyone -- registered and unregistered alike -- can read the forums.
