Not quite plastered, but more plastered than I've been in a long time. Baby is 4 months old, which means it's been over a year since I could post on here. Yee--haw. Having fun.

I have a conference presentation to get together by Friday, but I have been feeling burned out and more than a bit cheesed off since the semester started. I've posted some of the reasons elsewhere.
For some reason, I thought beer would be a good substitute for wine during the week, so I'm having a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat.

I had not planned to imbibe so much tonight, but my friend seemed distressed, and I offered to spend some time chatting to her about her academic and romantic woes. So there was whiskey and crap beer. And whiskey. And free whiskey. And eventually sangria. And now I overshare on the fora, in my fuzzy, inebriated state.
It's nice when dive bars run out of the well, and fall back on Jack instead.

I flew first class in the most turbulent flight I have ever been on. 2 free vodka cranberry juices and 2 coffees with Bailey's later I don't seem to be working much.

I've been known to buy $7 cocktails on flights at the merest hint of turbulence. Probably for the best I don't fly first class.

Goodbye, cruel week.
Amen. Two dirty martinis with a friend, accompanied by much venting about our university. Now sipping a pricey red (on sale!). I suspect more waits in the wings.

We have returned from a very loud event at the kids' school. Just opened a bottle of Cabernet. I think we'll have no problem finishing it tonight.

Bad week somewhat alleviated by pitcher of margaritas shared by my son. May see tomorrow.

Seriously. Worst week ever.
Monday: finally get diagnosis for months-long sore throat: ulcers on my vocal chords. Just have to wait them out. YAY. Tuesday: Getting peer evaluated in my class, mis-read the syllabus, and show up to a classroom of students expecting their first exam. Instead, they get a lecture and a rescheduled exam for Thursday. Mostly cheers, but some grumbling. Peer reviewer is not impressed. Wednesday: Meet with my realtor to put together an offer on a home we were planning to build then buy. Teach one class. Wednesday is relatively uneventful. Thursday: Peer reviewer wants to come back at some point to see a "normal" class. Super. Hear back from realtor that the builder/seller has countered our offer by increasing home price by $3K. Dream home is not happening. Awesome. Friday: Spend the morning driving 4 hours RT to pick up the husband at the airport (he's been in Vegas through this whole week), then have to facilitate VERY IMPORTANT MEETING in the afternoon. Between 1) a tornado warning for the area and 2) a flu that's hit the local high school, 66% of the meeting attendees CANCEL. Six people show up. We salvage what we can. Saturday: I am not changing out of my bathrobe or leaving the house today. I may re-watch the entire first two seasons of Downton Abbey or maybe the BBC Pride and Prejudice. There is really nothing else I can do.
Oh, and there will be drinking.

Oh, and I forgot. The edited book that I was finished with, and checked with the production manager weeks ago to make sure everything was cool? Yeah, well, he wrote my co-editor and I some really obnoxious emails about how we were over our page limit, and missing some copyright stuff. Um, douche-bag? That's why we asked a month ago. So that was going on all week, too. It really was sh!t.
