but would the same people ban a communist Lenin flag, as many people buy when travelling to former communist coutries as souvenirs? And should it be forbidden for student to wear che guevara T-shirts? (sure he is responsible for the deaths of a quite a few)

When I was an undergrad my university tried to fire a prof who kept a bust of Lenin on his desk. He was serious, too; a real communist believer.

I have Soviet stuff all over my walls, including slogans such as "we shall arrive at the victory of socialist labor." I don't have a little shrine to Stalin, though, which is what the OP described the confederate display as.

The most popular tourist shirts these days in Russia, btw, are parodies. For example, one very popular shirt shows a smiling Stalin behind the wheel of an old sailing ship with the caption "Stalin is our helmsman!"

I think that anyone who wants more than I have is asking too much in life.  Anyone who wants less is lacking in ambition.
