I don't know about SUNY Alfred, but I was once employed by another SUNY where a similar blog played a role in ousting a president.  In spite of any problems the president may have had (on this particular campus, his main sin may have been trying to end the faculty's lackadasical ways-- their "no Friday classes" "full time job off campus too" "never do research" way of life), the blog was basically scurilous, almost devoid of any real content or substantive criticisms.  What was really inappropriate was that the blog was student operated, and the students had been put up to participation by faculty.
