Cactus,
Wonderful post from the other side of the table.
I've had a couple of experiences like this--one I still remember is the candidate who from the time I picked hu up at the airport was obviously 110% not interested in our job. I had to take this person to dinner later and it was excruciating--not so hostile as your experience, but equally unpleasant, I think.
I remember this person's name.

And don't think that news of your bad behavior doesn't get passed around either. We once had a candidate that some of us liked and some of us didn't. Right before we were going to make the offer, word got back to us from colleagues at two different schools where this particular candidate had also interviewed. At both of these schools, hu had had a meltdown of sorts. Although too complicated to go into here, word of such behavior really influenced some of our faculty, and we did not make an offer to hu. I am not saying this is good or bad behavior on the part of the SC, but it is what happened.
Moral of the story: be good on interviews. Word can get around.

Just sort of rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? This is inspired.
