Boo hoo - heard nothing from application.

Hello All
Thanks to those who responded to my post about shortlisting. Well, it is mid-week and I haven't heard anything so guess I haven't been shortlisted. It is very frustrating when I seemed a good fit, but that's how competitive it is right now.
I wish we'd get reject letters, though.
Best
Sue

Why don't you just ring HR and ask? It won't affect your application in any way and, at worst, it will put you out of your misery. (And you might learn that they haven't shortlisted yet or that an invitation to interview has gone amiss...)
Let us know.

Hi again
Thanks! I did it as suggested BUT unfortunately HR can't give me any advice on my status as all enquiries must be now directed at the Department. Ugh.
Still it was a good idea. Yes, misery, misery.

That's unfortunate. I'd be tempted to phone the department.
In any case, you can't be sure that they've shortlisted yet...

I am tempted but don't want to appear as if I am hectoring them. I feel in my gut that they probably have shortlisted (I mean the closing date was a week and a half ago) but I guess I'll wait until the end of the week and then get some feedback on my application.
Cheers

There are a thousand possible reasons for what is happening, all of them outside your control. Go take a walk or something.

Yes, I am well aware of that and I am not usually troubled by such matters. This is slightly different for personal reasons.
But thanks for the helpful comments.
