Given the earlier discussion of passport ownership, I thought we might enjoy a poll (see above) to get some data on this.

I posted this in the other thread, but I'll also post here, for those interested in data.

We did a survey of Chronicle subscribers and found that 91 percent had passports, so it appears that academics are far above the national norm.

What was the response rate?  I would imagine there is some response bias here - those who have one are more likely to respond than those who don't.  So the rate among all subscribers is probably less, I'm guessing.

I agree, grupt. Though academics are surely above the national norm in the USA, 91% seems ridiculously high.

Yup, I think there might be some response bias too.  Maybe the more internationally or academically minded faculty read the chronicle and post?  Who knows.

I have my passport.  Almost time to renew, too.
