AUT deal and marking

I'm trying to catch up with an enormous backlog of marking. My head of department is putting everybody in my department under a lot of pressure to get it done (yesterday ...), saying that we should have just withheld the marks instead of not marking at all. I know, of course, that the marking has to be done as soon as possible, but the deal doesn't really compensate for the pressure and tension all this has provoked.
Just venting ...

You have my sympathy... and the weather is even nice.... so you're stuck marking while the weather is nice.
I marked and parked.... I'm done.... but I am sunburned from gardening in the nice weather.
