Hello!  

I have just discovered this forum and I am eager to get your feedback!  

I am an American applying for a professional/management position at a UK university.  The application seems key to the selection process.  I am interested in receiving advice on the "Statement in Support of Application" in which one addresses the person specification/essential and desirable knowledge, skills, and experience.  Further, it asks that the applicant relate their statement to the job description.  

Is this meant to be narrative?  A paragraph addressing each category?  Or is it to be bullet points?  In either case, do I need to directly reference the job description or shouldn't it be evident that acting as a liaison refers to "proactive collaboration and liaison with key stakeholders"?  

Also, for those who relocated to the UK, did you mention it would be a welcomed opportunity to relocate or do you feel that is implied by having applied.  I really want the position and I want to make it seem as convenient as possible.

I wouldn't say anything about why you want to move to the UK until you're asked.

As for the personal spec... well..  I'd do it both bullet points and paragraph. Bullet points so it's easy to read, but a paragraph why that is relevant.

I hate the UK application process!

Be prepared that if they call you for an interview you will meet all the other folks who are interviewing and you will be put in a room with them while you wait. Also, if it's for a management position it's not unsual for the interview team to have all the candidates do some type of exercise together to see how you work with others
