Similar question: does anyone know a UK site that has a calculator for turning a gross wage into a net wage?

No, but as a lower rate taxpayer I think it was about 30% off the top for taxes  and national insurance. My finances are more complicated now so can't easily check.

It's about 32-33% for low-rate tax payers (22%), including national insurance, income tax and pension contributions. You get a small discount on your national insurance if you are a member of a pension scheme, so it works out as 34%, but you have a tax free allowance of £4895 and part of your wage (don't remember how much) is taxed at 10%.
