admin interview

I am interviewing for some admin jobs at other institutions (dept. chair, assoc. dean). I have no experience interviewing for administrative positions, so I am curious if and how such interviews will differ than standard faculty interviews. These are some R1 institutions and some smaller regional universities.
Thanks.

Having been involved in searches for admin positions, it's hard for me to imagine how your interviews wouldn't be different from that for a standard faculty post. You may be asked about your faculty work, but the focus will likely be on the experience and skills that are most relevant for the administrative position for which you are interviewing.
If it's a department chair position, you may be asked about how you would lead the department or what your vision for the department might be. If there are faculty vacancies, you may be asked about how you'll lead the search efforts. General queries about budget and personnel management can also be expected.
As for the associate dean positions, it depends on what the area is (student affairs, research, graduate studies), so knowing what that is would help.

Hello, I am in the process of being interviewed for an associate dean, student support services. The interview will be conducted by one of the Vice presidents of student affairs/services and will take place via phone. As a rule, I put together a list of questions based on my experience in student services and as an anthropologist who teach introduction classes in cutural anthropology. For example, I am expected to talk about successes related to retention, first genreation, low-income, participation, building relationship beyond the class settings, non-traditional students and so on. What advise would you offer?
