This discussion has provided a wealth of useful information for selecting interview attire.  But please pay attention to the weather where you will be interviewing.  A woman who interviewed in January at my Montana institution a few years ago  wore a lightweight but extremely dressy suit and stilleto heels.  She looked fantastic -- until she had walked across campus a few times in the snow.  She might have made a better impression with less formal attire, a warm coat, and boots!

bought the suit today at one of the 50% off sales.

I have to get it altered, but hey, at 5'2" (almost) that is nothing new.

I just hope I need it.

IF ADN ONLY IF your suit will be in carry-on luggage, skirt/dress pants and sweater are fine for car rides to and from airports.

I would like advice on a somewhat related question.

My campus interview will consist of one full day, for which I plan to wear a suit. However, I arrive the night before my interview, and leave the morning after. I presume, although I don't know for sure, that someone from the department will pick me up and drop me off.

Under these circumstances, is a suit still recommended? Or will a smart-looking skirt and sweater suffice?
