My first book will be published in the spring, when I will be finishing a one-year visiting appointment. Assuming (and this is a huge assumption) that I accept a t-t offer by then, should I still, out of a misplaced sense of loyalty, list the place where I'm visiting when I describe "the author"? Filling out my author questionnaire should be tediously exhilarating, but it's just making me self-conscious. How about just "More Anonymous teaches and writes about Nonsense Studies"?

From the readers' point of view, I say put your most current affiliation, since someone may want to contact you.
Or you may be able to say, Pat Jones is professor of XYZ at Something College, and has taught at Another College. Prof Jones received the PhD from Watsamatta U.

I posted a similar question on this forum a week or two ago and got some really good feedback. Posters tended to recommend using the new affiliation; otherwise it might not count towards tenure at the new place. There were some other informative details mentioned too though - check out the thread at:

Congratulations on the book!
