At the risk of becoming a local nuisance, I would like to remind you to
PLEASE POST TO THE WIKI so we save the collective wisdom generated on the forum

Can we expect these annoying reminders on a daily basis?

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the threads here will place your wiki reminders off the main page probably by the end of the day; in a week, it will be burried under another 100 posts.  Although I'm sure some people dig five or six pages back to old posts, I suspect most people don't.  Given that it's also summer time, people will be away for a week or two, come back and be completely unaware that they are "expected" to not only post here but also find an appropriate filing place for their posts on some other web site.

Unless you plan to transpose these posts yourself on a regular basis, I wouldn't expect a significant percentage of the posts here to be regularly updated on your new site.  Who knows--maybe you can list it as a job publication.

The issue with the Wiki is that of critical mass. If enough people post there, that will attract both readers and posters.

Don't worry about daily reminders to post - I'm not going to turn myself into a local spammer. What I am going to do is when I see a post that is showing something interesting or insightful, I'll ask the author of the post to copy it to the WIKI - or even take the liberty to do it myself.

I'm curious.

Has anyone reflected upon who owns the content of these posts?  As I'm sure many of you know, the Chronicle publishes excerpts from them from time to time in their print edition.  Me thinks that means that they have a claim to the content, and its republication on another website may be an infringement of their copyrights.

Certainly if you're copying posts from this website and posting them on your own website--regardlesss of the permission of the orginal poster--that strikes me as poaching.  That "wiki" stuff isn't owned by the person doing the pasting doesn't matter; the wiki cite still runs advertising, etc., and Moose or someone is giving them free content.

Except moose isn't really.  If you look at the wiki site, it's all been neatly boiled down into sensible recommendation lists, no cutting and pasting involved.  As far as I can tell nothing has been plagiarized, and the chronicle certainly doesn't have a copyright on the ideas therein, as they were available many many places long before the chronicle forum ever existed.

Wow.  I followed econ anon's advice and checked out Moose's site.  I never realized how lame a wiki site is.  I'll stick with the stuff here at the Chronicles.
