Does anyone know where a good source of salary information can be obtained, when not availiable in the university's Web page?

Right here on this Web site is the AAUP comprehensive information regarding salaries for the past five years at many universities in the USA. Good Luck. See http://chronicle.com/stats/aaup/

Well, try the faculty association Web site. Usually there is a most recent contract available on that site which contains salary info and scales.
