I find it amusing that Anon referred to Job Seeker as a "diva" and suggested that he/she apply for American Idol. As some of you will know, "I beg to differ" was a memorable response from one of the most unrealistic candidates on the show when she was told by all three judges that she could not sing.

Although I sympathize with Job Seeker and agree that the process is stressful and frustrating, I also agree with Anon and others that most of the demands are unrealistic. Forget about their teaching and research --the search-committee members have to wade through too many application packages to be able to promise any sort of real deadlines to candidates. There are too many of us competing for too few jobs for the process to be dignified.
