Everyone is quick to jump on the imposter for being an imposter (bad, bad troll), but is there any relevance to the post?

Yeah, all those cute, white, Christian anti-semite mysogenist guys, hazing each others in the bathrooms . . . evidently it is OK to sodomize someone as long as you don't love them . . .

Perhaps. But that does not pertain to the central point of the original post. The original post wanted to know if the students at the military academies had less of a sense of entitlement when dealing with professors. There was nothing about hazing or sodomizing each other. It seems that this post was intentionally meant to be hurtful and snobbish, rather than thought provoking and inspiring.
Now that we are off topic though, you first: is there any validity to the claims of the troll??

Is Pro Good Manners asking whether military cadets are white boys who hate Jews and women and love to haze and sodomize each other?
I look forward to the answer, but am of course clutching my smelling salts as well.

When I was a freshman, my physics professor did something like that. He told us on the first class day that class begins with a question from the student. So everyday someone asked a question, usually related to physics but not always.
I (and most of the other students, I believe) thought it was kinda fun. I didnt have any deep thinking, such as "Oh, what a powerful interactive pedagogical method" or anything though.
In my very first class (volunteer, one hour weekly, middie-class suburban high school), I did that. The kids were mature enought to ask me a question to start. In retrospect, I guess perhaps they *might* have thought it was slightly odd.
Hmm, maybe I'll do this in one of my classes this fall semester and see how it goes.

Actually, A.B.D. asked if there was anything to the troll's post. Perhaps, there are instances of hazing and strong christian undertones at the military academies... but I doubt to the extreme that troll believes.
To be frank, I was somewhat shocked that someone would even consider the troll's post as being valid. I wanted to find out what others thought. A reality check, if you will. With good manners in mind, I said: "you first"!
Hope this clears up any confusion.

Yes, there have been scandals and many investigations at the academies about hazing, rape, and persecution of other religions.

Yes. That is correct. There have also been scandals of the same nature at state schools, private schools and major research institutions. What is so special about this happening at a military school??

I believe that the service academics should be held to a very high standard of behavior. They are role models of behavior.
If they are hazing, raping, abusing, and sodomizing, they are not role models for the U. S. military.
Perhaps that is why enlistments are down.

Yes, they should be held to high standards of behavior. But, so should every other college student and academic.

Actually, I think the enlistments going down has something to do with being shipped off to Iraq to face potential casualties and potential death. I am not sure it has anything to do with the behavior of some at the military academies, although, it does not help.
