Finally!

Finally, I'm finished with grading! Well, at least I'm finished with writing up the comments that no one will ever read...just have to fill out my grade roster tomorrow, and then I'm finished for good! And I swear next semester I won't leave it all until the last minute!
Now, where's that Creme de Menthe thread?

Friday I finished the calculation part ... I still have to double-check everything. I admit I usually find small mis-calucations, say 82 not 83 or 81. Only once in 4 years have I found a mis-calculation that resulted in a change in the letter grade though.
Then the final step, entering all the grades into the computer system.
My treat is a facial on Christmas Eve =)

Heavens, enter grades in the computer all semester, and let the PC brains (coprocessor) take care of small math mistakes. A program like Excel makes an easy "do it yourself" gradebook. Or there are actual gradebook programs. Experiment with one small course first, to get the hang of it. The digital revolution was 15 years ago!

Yeah, thanks for the info. I'm not frightened of the digital revolution, as half my teaching load is online and I do much of the web stuff for my dept. I just meant that all I had left to do was enter the grades for the final exams and essays into my spreadsheet and click the button. Guess I'm lazy enough that that small final step was enough to make we want to celebrate and break out the booze. :)

I thought I finished everything the other day. Then, I went to enter grades on the computer, and one student who finished the class with a passing grade was suddenly not on my roster! She had some issues with registration in the middle of the term, and I had to readd her to the course. Last week, when i took attendance on the computer, she was there, but sure enough now she's not. So, I have to wait for registration to mail me the form and all that. What a pain!
Congrats to you for being done! I'm getting unexpected ice cream now... my friend is bring it back. I wonder what it will be? :)

LAST ONE DONE!

I'm clearly the last one done with grading! Found THREE plagiarized finals...have already gotten a complaint about a gift grade on the worst presentation in the class...gave out a bunch of well-deserved As to diligent grad students and even smarter undergrads taking the grad seminar..and ran a huge hot bath. Would eat chocolate too but I wiped it all out at 3 am. But here go I with one of the novels for next term! Hurrah! so good to join you folks who have been done for a week.
I also note that when you order gifts on the 21st, the rush seems to be over-- mine got delivered BEFORE the ones I ordered on the 14th. go figure.
I am officially OVER my campus visit and rejection and ready for MLA. In some ways, it's good to have it done early.
cheers!
