80 Papers in 24 hours

I screwed up on my syllabus. I had to turn around four composition classes worth of papers in 24 hours or my students would not have had a chance to rewrite before the final.
Somehow I did it. I spent 10 minutes on each short paper and 20 minutes on longer ones. On five hours of sleep, I churned out minimal comments on each page, a short narrative and percentage--and actually updated their grades to date.
Yes, I'm exhausted, but I am SOOOOO relieved. I have an appointment for my chiropractor and masseuse tomorrow and will enjoy every minute.
Good luck all on final due dates and finals. I'll be grading portfolios all weekend. C'est la vie!

You got FIVE hours? I'm so jealous--I was up all night long with my enormous stack of freshman research papers. But it's all worth it when I come across an unforgettable passage like this one, from a girl's paper about weblogs:
"As people get older their vocabulary expands and hopefully a person gains more knowledge. With that being said most older people use bigger words and write more sophisticated."

I was just reading a student paper and the plagiarism bells start to go off--I know I've read this before. I think, crap, I don't have time to deal with plagiarism, but this totally copied from another paper in the same stack.
Then I realize, I'd already read this student's paper yesterday, but hadn't marked a grade.
Can I go home yet?

One time when marking a huge stack of midterms, I marked the answer key!! A TA had filled it out. I did get a laugh out of it and yes it got 100%.

I'm getting through my stack of final papers...and if I have to read one more paper that says "Technology makes us all universally accessible", I think I'll cry...
Please send chocolate.

You have my sympathy. Will this ever be over with?
