A poll-

What kind of self-care activities are we planning for this semester break? Massages, personal trainer, exotic vacations, shaving the long-neglected legs, dying the roots, reading a novel???

For myself - hmm...

I think it's daily trips to the gym where I will actually sit in the hot tub or sauna after my workout. AAHH...

Finishing the two articles that I (foolishly) promised to get done by Christmas.

Holiday?  Bah, and humbug too, for good measure.

My "break" will consist of approximately one week, between turning in final grades and starting the winter term.

But I plan to use that week to the fullest. First of all, I'm going to catch up on sleep. And then, I think I'll...sleep. And after that, maybe I'll get some...sleep.

And then, once I'm refreshed, I plan to finish my winter term syllabi, finish an article and submit it to a journal, clean my apartment, go grocery shopping, cook dinner, and relax in a hot bath with some sort of aromatherapy candle thing. Oh, and yoga plus a long walk every single day. And writing letters to publishers.

I wonder if I'm being overly ambitious?

I think I'll sit and stare at the wall, or t.v., or both. Then, I'll sleep a lot, then start planning a new course for next semester...

Tamian, as you know, I'm joining the local Y and starting out with aerobics, or maybe a personal trainer.

Deciding minute by minute what I'm gonna do next, not looking forward, not looking backwards.  If the decision for the current minute includes doing nothing,  I'm just gonna go with it.

Just hanging out at the house with my wife and child is my plan.  It's not glamorous, but I enjoy being a homebody.  I have lots of shrubs that I need to cut back as well.

"Sex, lots of it."

With or without another person, I might add.

Teaching an intersession class.  Three credits in two weeks to overworked graduate students.

Oh yes, and the extra time will be left for article writing and the occasional sojourn to play video games.

I have to admit that my imagination has been running wild recently.  I'm going to need a long hot bath, a massage, and a good man (which, we all know, is hard to find).

First I'll throw a really big party. Then I'll spend a day crashed. Then I'll spend a day volunteering for a local charity. Then I'll sleep, eat, read, sleep, eat, read. Guess I should throw in some exercise for good measure.

No renewal activities--I'm writing a paper for a class I'm taking for my PhD!
