Higher-Education Bill in Senate Would Direct Savings to Deficit Reduction and 2 New Grant Programs

Legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday would take savings generated by cutting government subsidies to private lenders and use it to reduce the federal budget deficit and to create two new grant programs for students from low-income families.
