MIT Settles Lawsuit With Parents of Student Who Suffocated in Nitrous-Oxide Incident

Nearly six years after a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology died while inhaling nitrous oxide in his dormitory room, the institution has settled a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by his parents, in part by agreeing to set up an orientation fund for freshmen.
