It was (and is) Rand's intention to find the men (and women) of intellect, wherever they might be. She never specified that institutions of higher learning had a stranglehold on such minds. She was well aware that her ideas would find no favor in academic circles. No loss, as academia has been a haven for safe thinking. Have a professor who espouses morally bankrupt ideas attempt to sell his thoughts on the street and see how he is able to feed himself. Hmmm. "Oprah's Book Club." "Your Mama's Last Supper." I guess the street will, sadly, support those ideas.
Academics can debate Objectivist ideas. It is up to individuals to live them. It is not the discussion of Rand's material but the practical application that merits discussion.
