The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY
THE QUESTION
RESPONSES
BACKGROUND

An interesting aspect of Ayn Rand that is often overlooked is her ethics with respect to 'selling out.' Harsh criticism is often advanced, somewhat warranted in fact, toward her self-interest principle with regard to living only for oneself so that personal integrity-the idea that money is secondary to morals-is obscured. In my mind, it is this principle, often not engaged because of emphasis on her antisocial misgivings, that is her most important single theme in objectivism.
