With regard to Steve Crow's comment that I stated accreditation was 'useless in sorting degree mills from legitimate on-line enterprises', you obviously did not read the context of my message (or just made this comment up).
I did not say accreditation was useless -- I intimated that a voluntary system of accreditation leaves huge holes available for exploitation by degree mills, as can clearly be seen in the U.S model.
Accreditation is extremely useful and important. Moreover, I advocate that is should be mandatory for all universities (virtual and traditional).
