Academic standards require that presented as fact to be factual. We simply cannot present falsehood as fact, even it the lie leads people in the way we think they should go. First, the creditability of academia depends on dedication to the truth. Second, a well-educated person should be able to go on to make appropriate decisions when presented with the truth. It may be hard for the arrogant to understand but, when equipped with the truth, the student could even make better decisions than their teachers.
